23-24^th RAMADHAN of the HIJRI YEAR 1420.

RAMADHAN HAS COME and that Special Ramadhan is about to leave us. One may be inclined to asked-"so what then was so special about this Ramadhan ?" everything really ! …because it was the last RAMADHAN on the Gregorian Calendar (Miladi) for the year 1999 …and may very well have been the last Ramadhan (of the previous century) for those of us whom Allah *(SWT) recalls to his eternal world. (Al-Aghirah)

Amidst a Global frenzy of fear and tense tongue biting for the expected aftermath and anticipated effects of the Y2K bug –NOTHING really happened!

! (in the West or the East ) Significantly one can now come to understand how the hype around the expected crash of systems and programs was both commercialised and blown out of all proportion. But then again, this is the 21^st Century and modernism advocates "be prepared –even if it’s gonna cost you an arm and a leg ! "

24^th Ramadhan 1420

Ushering in the new millenium, significantly coincided with 23rd night /24th day Ramadhan 1420. Again, we as Muslims needed to have reminded ourselves of the two victories Muslims scored in the Holy Month of Ramadhan, namely that of BADR (17/2h) and FATH, (10/8^th h) the final taking of Holy Makkah, and the Prophet’s truimphant re-entry into the Holy City of his birth. Today, moreso because Muslims are again finding themselves in positions of subjugation and weakness, worldwide, we need to reflect, close ranks and rededicate ourselves again to the cause of Islam, by emulating the examples set by the Sahabah, Tabiin and the Ouliyaaul-AllahuSalihin. Our hearts go out to our Brothers and Sisters in Chechnya, Albania, Palestine, Indonesia, Sudan, Algeria and Muslims world-wide suffering at the hands of Despotic rulers, dictators, ailing governments and family clans hanging on for dear life.

Amidst our celebration and joy- let us remember those less fortunate this year- and pray for their well-being, safety and security.
